Summary

Upwork is a marketplace that connects businesses with freelancers and clients. The Work Management team within the Payments business unit wanted to increase adoption and average sizes of bonuses that clients can give to freelancers during a contract cycle.

I redesigned and tested preset bonus prompts displayed at contract completion, anchoring clients to relevant bonus amounts. Following this experiment, I dove into user research and analysis to explore other solutions, and assess the viability of this revenue lever.

A three-way segmented, two-cell quantitative test uncovered lower adoption rates but offered valuable insights, enabling the team re-strategize this lever throughout the contract life cycle.
